The view was created by Alexander Robertson and Francis Jukes and was published simultaneously in London and New York soon after George Washington’s death in December of 1799. The title in the bottom margin reads: Mount Vernon in Virginia, the Seat of the late Lieut. General George Washington Commander in Chief of the Armies of the United States.
