North Carolina, 1767, Plan of Fort Johnston, John Collet



A 1767 Pre-Revolutionary War plan of Fort Johnston, North Carolina, by Captain John Collet, governor of the fort at the time. Collet was the author of the 1770 A Compleat Map of North-Carolina, also known as the Collet Map of North Carolina. The fort was built at the mouth of Cape Fear River, by its namesake Governor Gabriel Johnston, to defend the area from privateer raids.
